The current economic climate has made it difficult to continue writing about paper money without relating it to the reality that befalls us all. Life has become very stressful for most. No job, no home and little prospects of seeing the light at the end of this dark tunnel!
So what do you really think! My advice is what ever extra money you have saved up needs to be wisely invested in non paper money investments such as gold, silver, land or property. Things will get worse before they get better and leaving your hard earned cash in a bank as paper money will not serve you well in the long run.
Have you noticed that both banks on either side of the Atlantic Ocean have taken to selling off their gold and silver reserves to keep the price of gold down? Once its all gone the prices are going to shoot up sky high, this will in turn deplete the value of paper money to never before low levels.
The history of paper money in the east is about to repeat itself in the west. Take note and heed the well meant warning. I am not an economics expert but there is a bubble that is about to burst try and help yourself and get something tangible from your hard earned savings. Buy gold or silver now!

Paper Money Collecting and The Credit Crunch
I went to the bank today, Halifax (HBOS), only to find it virtually empty with new paper money being the only bank notes available in these very hard times of a credit crunch. So now I have crispy uncirculated £10 and £20 notes to add to my collection. But at what price?
Didn't we see this coming? Bad debts have piled up for years, and bad credits for decades so we now stand at a point where uncertainty in the financial market is about to take over our econmic lives as we once knew it.
Is your bank going to go under? My simple advice is this, diversify now! Don't keep all your money in one account. Find out the maximum amount that the government will cover each banks account for and keep only that amount in each account.
I like the new notes keep the ones you need to and lets pray that the powers that be will take whatever steps to nip this thing from spreading any further. This is wishful thinking, as action really should have been taken a long while before.
The town of Lewes with their newly launched Lewes Pound has taken their financial destiny in their hands and it might be working! For the rest of us we can only hope that the credit crunch wont drowm our banknotes any further!

The Lewes Pound - The Newest Banknote In England
I was pleasantly suprised that Lewes, a town in Britain had just released the latest paper money banknote. 10, 000 notes were printed and are nearly sold our already. Maybe sold out is a wrong way to put it as these notes are not meant for collector's albums, instead they are supposed to remain in circulation and spent in and around the town of Lewes.
So why is this proud English town resorting to releasing a new paper note? The have many reasons but I like the one about it's their answer to the present global credit crunch. They have definitely taken their financial matters seriously and into their own hands.

Paper Money To be Burned in Taipei, C hina
Did you know that it's a custom to burn paper money in Taipei? Incredible stuff, but there you go this is the right spirit to have, their attachment to the much sort after paper is non existent it seems. There is a credit crunch around us here so we in the West wouldn't dare increase our hardship by burning the little we have.
But there is another consideration that has been forgotten and that is, environmental safety, burning the notes would create a heavy mass of pollution. The government is therefore doing a lot to ensure that people are aware that this practice though grounded in their culture has little or no place in todays world as consideration has to be given to keeping the environment from pollution.
Will you be burning anything this summer?

Banknote and Paper Money News: The Direct Express Debit Card
Finally a solution is in sight for the 4 million Americans without bank accounts who have to depend on paper cheques to access their monthly social benefits. The U.S. Department of the Treasury has found a solution and a new Direct Express debit card for social security payments has now been launched in 10 states, this debit card will be available to all shortly as the plan is to roll it out over the nation during the summer months.
This is a great step forward as you can imagine how frustrating it is waiting on your social security cheques via the post. Delays in arrival cause so much stress for many families, not to talk about the problem of cashing the cheques through unscrupulous money services who eat up some of the much needed money via commission for the service rendered.
4 million people are now being given an opportunity to start getting their paper money affairs in order and I think this is a great move forward and will help to revive the economy some. Read more about this at The Direct Express Debit Card Launch.
